The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebration across the country.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who extended warm congratulations to Christians in Nigeria and in the diaspora on the occasion of Easter.
He urged Nigerians to reflect on the virtues exemplified by Jesus Christ, including selflessness, forgiveness, love, and forbearance, noting that these values are essential for national cohesion and peaceful coexistence.
The minister also called on citizens to uphold tolerance and unity, stressing that these principles remain vital to strengthening the country’s social fabric.
