The Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) has concluded arrangements for the public presentation of its latest authoritative publication, “50 Drivers of Nigeria’s Marine and Blue Economy,” a landmark book documenting the individuals shaping the country’s evolving maritime landscape.
The unveiling is scheduled to take place on Thursday, December 4, at Providence Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Lagos, by noon.
Produced after extensive sector-wide research, the publication chronicles the contributions of key personalities whose ideas, reforms and interventions have significantly influenced the development, growth and transformation of Nigeria’s maritime and blue economy in recent years.
Speaking ahead of the event, Chairman of the MARAN Caretaker Committee, Mr. Jayeolatunde Ayodele, described the book as a strategic and unbiased effort to strengthen institutional memory within the maritime sector at a time when Nigeria is repositioning its Marine and Blue Economy architecture.
“This publication is MARAN’s carefully researched contribution to documenting excellence in the industry. It has become critical to recognise individuals whose efforts have driven growth, reforms and innovation,” Ayodele said.
According to him, the book is designed to serve as a credible reference material for policymakers, industry operators, researchers and students, while also inspiring accountability, professionalism and a renewed culture of service.
“Our goal is to provide a resource that will guide decision-making and inspire the next generation of maritime leaders. This is also in line with MARAN’s mandate of deepening industry reportage, promoting transparency and contributing intellectually to national development,” he added.
The event will attract high-profile stakeholders in the maritime, oil and gas, and public service sectors. Former Minister of Interior and Chairman of Integrated Oil & Gas, Capt. Emmanuel Iheanacho, is expected to chair the occasion, while Chief (Mrs.) Carol Ufere, former General Manager of SERVICOM at the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), will review the book.
The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, is billed to attend as the Special Guest of Honour.

Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Kenneth Jukpor, expressed confidence that the event would further strengthen stakeholder collaboration and stimulate deeper conversations around the vast opportunities within Nigeria’s blue economy.
He noted that the publication and its presentation would not only celebrate past and present contributions but also set the tone for future policy direction and sectoral innovation in the country’s expanding maritime space.
