The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) says it has found no evidence to support allegations of misconduct made by a Facebook user, Mr. Chiemelle Offor, against some of its officers in the Iponri area of Surulere.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Lagos, Mr. Taofiq Adebayo, Director of the Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, explained that the agency conducted a thorough internal investigation following the social media complaint.
Offor had taken to Facebook on Wednesday to accuse unnamed LASTMA officials of misconduct in the Iponri area, referencing a location near a supposed “Faithview Hospital” in Surulere.
Upon receipt of the complaint, LASTMA said it initiated a detailed review process, including interviews with officers deployed to Surulere and Iponri, examination of duty rosters, operational logs, and deployment records.
Adebayo said attempts were also made to contact Offor via his Twitter (X) handle to request critical details such as vehicle registration numbers and descriptions of the officers involved. However, he noted that Offor has yet to provide any further evidence or respond with specific information, despite multiple outreach efforts.
“A physical check also confirmed that there is no hospital by the name ‘Faithview’ in the Surulere axis, as mentioned in the Facebook post,” he added.
“In the absence of verifiable facts, LASTMA finds no basis to validate the allegations,” Adebayo stated.
Reiterating its commitment to transparency, professionalism, and ethical conduct, the agency highlighted the launch of its new toll-free hotline for public complaints and feedback.
Adebayo urged Offor—or any other eyewitnesses to reach out to the agency directly with credible information that could support a fair and objective investigation.
“LASTMA remains committed to citizen-centred traffic management and to upholding the integrity of its personnel and procedures,” he said.
