The Kebbi State Police Command has reassured residents of Bagudo and surrounding communities that there is no cause for panic following a midnight explosion that rocked the General Hospital, Bagudo, in the early hours of Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
A loud blast was reported within the hospital premises around midnight, triggering fear among residents and prompting a swift deployment of security operatives. A joint team comprising the Nigeria Police Force, the military and local vigilance groups immediately cordoned off the area while specialists from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) unit commenced investigations.
Police authorities confirmed that no lives were lost in the incident. Although a building within the hospital’s staff quarters was affected, occupants had vacated the premises before the explosion and were unharmed.
The Commissioner of Police has reinforced security around the facility with additional tactical units to prevent any breakdown of law and order. Police spokesperson, SP Bashir Usman, said a comprehensive investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blast, urging residents to remain calm and avoid the area to allow investigators carry out their work.
Meanwhile, panic spread in Gebbe community, Shanga Local Government Area, following an attack by suspected gunmen on Monday. The attackers reportedly stormed the community, shooting sporadically and forcing residents to flee to nearby villages and bushes.

SP Usman confirmed that security personnel have been deployed to the area to assess the situation, adding that details regarding casualties would be communicated after proper verification.
