President Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council have made the decision to abolish the Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of Sports Development, opting instead to reinstate the Ministry of Regional Development to supervise regional development commissions.
This pivotal resolution was made during the Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.
As per the council’s resolution, a Ministry of Regional Development will now be responsible for overseeing all regional development commissions, including the Niger Delta Development Commission, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission, and North East Development Commission.
The National Sports Commission will assume the responsibilities previously held by the Ministry of Sports.
Additionally, the FEC has given the green light for the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy.
