The Lagos State Joint Public Service Negotiating Council (JNC Trade Union Side) has assured public servants that their retirement benefits remain protected, vowing to intensify oversight of pension remittances handled by Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs).
Chairman of the council, Mr. Micheal Domingo, gave the assurance during a strategic engagement with the management of the Lagos State Pension Commission (LASPEC). He said the meeting was convened following growing concerns among workers over delays in pension remittances.
Domingo stated that the council would now closely track pension operations to safeguard workers’ interests, urging public servants to remain calm, vigilant, and informed while the union continues to defend their present welfare and future retirement security. He commended LASPEC for its willingness to engage and its decision to introduce quarterly stakeholders’ meetings to address emerging issues.

Responding, the Director-General of LASPEC, Mr. Babalola Obilana, clarified that the Lagos State Government is currently up-to-date on pension remittances. He attributed earlier delays to temporary administrative and policy adjustments introduced by the National Pension Commission (PENCOM),
which he said have now been resolved.
Obilana assured that eligible workers retiring at this time, who have completed necessary documentation, would receive their benefits promptly. He also urged workers to regularly review their payslips for accurate pension deductions and promptly report any discrepancies.
