The wife of the Nigerian’s President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has introduced another series of programs under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) to empower women, promote environmental sustainability, and support vulnerable communities nationwide.
Among the key initiatives is “Flow with Confidence,” which will provide disposable sanitary pads to schoolgirls across Nigeria. Under this program, each state, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), will receive 10,000 cartons of sanitary pads to ensure girls can attend school without disruption during their menstrual cycles.
Emphasizing the need for environmental responsibility, Mrs. Tinubu announced the establishment of climate change clubs in secondary schools and tertiary institutions. The goal is to engage students in climate action, waste management, and recycling efforts. She also expressed hopes of setting up a recycling plant in every state to reduce plastic pollution.
“We don’t have to be intimidated by the quantity of waste around us, but we must take action. We are starting now,” she stated.
In line with its commitment to inclusivity, RHI will provide N200,000 grants to 250 persons with disabilities in each state to help sustain their businesses.
Highlighting the progress of the initiative over the past two years, Mrs. Tinubu noted that RHI has made a significant impact in several areas, including:
Women’s empowerment, particularly among female farmers
Scholarships for indigent students
Provision of professional kits for midwives in the North Central and North West regions
Disaster relief support across the country
ICT training for women
Construction of Alternative High Schools for Girls
Support for the elderly and vulnerable communities
During a media briefing after a meeting with governors’ wives, Mrs. Tinubu underscored the importance of collective efforts in driving national development. When asked about her priorities for the year, she emphasized the need for a holistic approach:

“Everything is a priority. For example, with the ‘Flow with Confidence’ initiative, we are working to produce sanitary towels locally, which will create jobs and boost the economy.”
She also encouraged young Nigerians to adopt a “can-do” spirit, urging them to work hard and contribute to national growth.
“Hard work is key—it lifted us out of poverty. Faith without works is dead. Go and work. Work for this country. Let this country grow.”
The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including Hajia Nana Shettima, Wife of the Vice President and National Vice Chairman of RHI, and Mrs. Salamatu Gbajabiamila, Wife of the Chief of Staff to the President and RHI Board Member.
