The House of Representatives has dismissed claims of internal division, insisting it remains united under the leadership of Speaker Rt. Hon. Dr. Abbas Tajudeen.
This follows a report by Leadership Newspapers alleging a looming “showdown” in the Green Chamber based on informal WhatsApp exchanges among lawmakers.
In a statement on Sunday, House Spokesman, Rep. Akin Rotimi Jr., clarified that such remarks do not reflect official caucus or House positions, stressing that parliamentary procedures remain the only legitimate platform for resolutions or decisions.
“It is to the Speaker’s credit that, despite the diversity of 360 Members across political, ethnic, and religious lines, the 10th Assembly has remained united, reaching common positions through consensus building,” Rotimi said.
On complaints over delayed contractor payments for constituency projects, the House noted that the issue is a national challenge, not unique to lawmakers’ initiatives. It said leadership, through Appropriations Committees, is working with the Minister of Finance to ensure full payment of 2024 obligations.
Addressing concerns over recruitment into the National Assembly bureaucracy, Rotimi explained that the exercise is being handled by the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC), an independent statutory body. However, the Speaker has directed the House Committee on Public Service Matters to investigate the process for fairness and inclusivity.

The House also rejected claims of unequal distribution of projects, describing them as “false, divisive, and unhelpful,” while reaffirming its commitment to equity and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
The 10th Assembly will reconvene on September 23, 2025, with a renewed focus on transparency, inclusiveness, and national priorities.
