In an unprecedented move within the history of the Nigeria Football Federation, the leadership of the Federation has organized a dignified farewell ceremony on Saturday for the Management and Staff members who retired between 2019 and the present. The retirees were also granted financial benefits.
Among the recipients were former Director of Competitions, Mr. Bola Oyeyode; ex-Chief Operating Officer of the Nigeria National League, Mr. Lawrence Katken; former Director of Finance & Administration, Mr. Babatunde Akinsanya; former Deputy Directors in the Technical Department, Dr. Robinson Okosun, Mr. Siji Lagunju, and Mr. Abdulrafiu Yusuf; former Deputy Directors in the Accounts Department, Mr. John Adelowo and Mr. Karim Bako, as well as Mr. Sunday Okayi, Mr. Emmanuel Adesanya, and Mrs. Edith Uzoechi. A total of 20 individuals were honored.
NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, emphasized that the purpose of the event was to acknowledge those who had served the Federation with distinction and to send a message to current staff that their hard work will be recognized when they eventually retire.
“The current NFF administration is committed to rewarding diligence, productivity, creativity, and innovation. It is crucial for Management and Staff to prioritize the interests of the Federation and Nigerian football as a whole.”
“I extend my congratulations to the retirees we are celebrating today, and I wish them continued success in their future endeavors.”
Babatunde Akinsanya, representing the retirees, commended the Ibrahim Gusau administration for this commendable gesture, stating that history will speak favorably of the current leadership for establishing a system that will benefit all staff members upon retirement, whether due to reaching the age of 60 or completing 35 years of service.
NFF Management and Staff unite in ‘efforts to eliminate corruption’
A group of Management and Staff members of the Nigeria Football Federation undertook a ‘walk’ on Saturday within the premises of the MKO Abiola National Stadium and Area 1 in the Federal Capital Territory to raise awareness about the imperative of eradicating corruption in the nation.
Despite the early-morning drizzle, many individuals walked from the Football House in Package B to Area 1 and back to the MKO Abiola National Stadium through Package A, delivering a resounding message for all public servants to embrace transparency and accountability.
Directors of the Federation, including Ademola Olajire (Media and Communications), Okey Obi (Legal Services), Paulinus Anameje (Finance and Administration), and Ruth David (Competitions), along with deputy directors Dr. Ayo Abdulrahaman, Rajan Zaka, Dayo Enebi Achor, and Alizor Chuks were joined by several assistant directors, staff members, and youth corpers in this initiative. NFF’s ICPC Desk Officer, Mr. Lawrence Abuo, also participated.
NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, addressed the participants at the conclusion of the walk, emphasizing the indispensable need for transparency and accountability in the management and operation of Nigerian football.
He commended their dedication to these principles as evidenced by the walk and pledged that such walks would become a regular activity for Management and Staff of the Federation.
