The Governor of Bauchi State, Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad CON, has approved the commencement of refunds for services not rendered to pilgrims from the state who participated in the 2023 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
The announcement was made by the Executive Secretary of the Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Imam Abdurrahman Ibrahim Idris, during a press briefing held in his office to outline the disbursement modalities. He revealed that the funds were received from Saudi authorities through the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
Imam Abdurrahman disclosed that Bauchi State had received a total of N203,274,240 for 3,328 pilgrims, with each pilgrim entitled to 150 Saudi Riyals (SR), equivalent to N61,080.
He further explained that the board had finalized arrangements for e-payment and introduced a special requisition form to collect necessary details, such as the pilgrims’ bank account information, for efficient and immediate fund transfers.
“All pilgrims are required to submit the form along with copies of their Hajj payment receipts, e-passport data page, and the account number in their name,” Imam Abdurrahman said.
He added that local government pilgrims should collect the forms from their respective Local Government Hajj Officers, while pilgrims under the Hajj Savings Scheme or the board’s arrangement should visit the board’s headquarters in Bauchi.
Reaffirming the board’s commitment to transparency and accountability, Imam Abdurrahman praised Governor Bala’s administration for prioritizing the welfare of pilgrims. He assured the public of a smooth and fair disbursement process.
