Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has urged the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to implement significant measures to improve future Hajj operations in the country.
The Governor made the call on Friday during a courtesy visit by NAHCON Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Sale Pakistan, at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
Reflecting on the challenges faced during the 2024 Hajj operations, Governor Idris expressed dissatisfaction with the arrangements made by NAHCON, particularly concerning accommodations and essential services for pilgrims.
He said, “I was also a witness as I performed the last Hajj. Myself, alongside some governors, other prominent Nigerians, and our pilgrims, were stranded and left to suffer.
“However, I have full confidence in the new NAHCON leadership to change this negative narrative. Urgent and practical measures must be taken to improve the exercise and reverse the shortcomings experienced during the 2024 Hajj.”
