The highly anticipated 2025 Interior and Furniture Summit is set to hold in Abuja with a central theme focused on promoting made-in-Nigeria products and empowering youth through lifestyle, design innovation, and socio-economic investment.
The summit will bring together key stakeholders, government officials, and prominent personalities across Nigeria’s design, education, and manufacturing sectors.
A major highlight of this year’s summit is the participation of high-profile speakers, including Professor Idris Bugaje, the Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), and Minister of State for Education Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad. Also expected is a keynote from a senior representative of the Federal Ministry of Education, reflecting the summit’s strong educational and developmental emphasis.
The summit’s mission is twofold: to position Nigeria’s interior and furniture industry as a global competitor and to channel the creative energy of Nigeria’s youth into meaningful entrepreneurship and design-led ventures. Organizers note that this initiative aligns with national efforts to reduce youth unemployment and stimulate local production.
Professor Bugaje, known for his fierce advocacy of technical and vocational education, is expected to deliver insights on how Nigeria’s TVET system can fuel innovation in furniture production and interior design. His remarks will likely explore pathways for young artisans and technical graduates to play a central role in developing locally sourced and globally competitive design solutions.
Dr. Alausa, a strong voice in health infrastructure and development, will bring a policy perspective on how well-designed spaces contribute to wellness, productivity, and inclusive development, especially in public institutions such as schools and hospitals.
According to the summit organizers, the event is not just a trade gathering but a catalyst to “gear the society towards investing in Nigeria’s socio-economic status for growth and self-empowerment.” The summit will also feature exhibitions from local furniture makers, panel discussions on sustainable materials, and workshops for design students and emerging entrepreneurs.
