A wave of support is coming in for Nigeria’s U20 Flying Eagles ahead of their crucial AFCON qualification match against Niger Republic.
The Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, has shown his support with a donation of N2 million. Wilfred Ndidi, a Super Eagles and Leicester City midfielder who also rose through the ranks of the Flying Eagles, has contributed N5 million to the team.
Other supporters include Crystal Sapphire Ltd Chairman Frank Peters, who has donated N1.5 million and promised further incentives, and Mr. Victor Apugo, who pledged N1 million with a promise to add N2 million if the team succeeds in the semi-finals.
Various prominent figures and organizations have generously contributed funds to boost the team’s morale and incentivize a victory.
The support came from Adedeji Adeyemi Anthony, a Nigerian coach based in Switzerland, who fulfilled his N1 million pledge following the team’s win over Cote d’Ivoire. Barrister Kenneth Agadugba, Chairman of Mavlon FC, also contributed N2 million and pledged a N12 million reward should the Flying Eagles make it to the finals. The Nigeria Football Federation staff and other anonymous donors have also shown their support.
Hence, Flying Eagles are set to face Niger Republic on Saturday at 2 PM Nigeria time, with a win securing their spot in both the tournament’s final and the upcoming AFCON U20 finals.
