The Federal Government has launched the Youth Farmers Enrollment Portal, a strategic initiative aimed at tackling unemployment and enhancing food security nationwide.
Speaking at the launch event in Abuja, the Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, emphasized the program’s role in aligning young people with the economic agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. Developed in collaboration with the Nigerian Youth Economic Engagement and De-Radicalisation Programme (NIYEEDEP), the initiative seeks to empower young Nigerians and strengthen the agricultural sector.
“This initiative is designed to equip young people with the necessary skills and resources to actively participate in economic development,” Olawande stated.
He highlighted the portal’s goal of creating six million direct jobs by 2025 across agriculture, food processing, and agro-allied industries, addressing youth unemployment, poverty, and food insecurity—key challenges to national stability.

Targeting individuals aged 18 to 35, the portal offers access to agricultural training, modern farming techniques, mentorship, financial support, and essential resources to help young farmers establish or expand their businesses.
“This is more than just increasing food production,” Olawande noted. “It’s about equipping young Nigerians with sustainable skills, generating employment in both rural and urban areas, and securing the well-being of our citizens.”
