The Federal Government has announced plans to partner with the Jigawa State Government to scale up sugar production in Nigeria as part of efforts to enhance food security, create jobs, and promote youth empowerment under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
This was disclosed by the Honourable Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, during a courtesy visit by the Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar Namadi, to his office in Abuja.
The development was contained in a press statement issued by Terhemen Oraduen, the Minister’s Personal Assistant on Media and Publicity.

Prof. Utsev emphasized that the partnership would play a critical role in achieving the administration’s goal of making life more meaningful for Nigerians. He further pledged to embark on a working visit to Jigawa State to assess the water infrastructure at the state-owned sugar factory, with a view to facilitating federal intervention that would enhance its operational viability.
Speaking earlier, Governor Namadi said his visit aimed to seek collaboration with the Federal Ministry to ensure consistent water supply for the sugar factory, thereby boosting production and contributing significantly to the state and national economy.
