Abuja, Nigeria – The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) in the healthcare sector as part of the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Programme and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
This commitment was underscored during a weekend visit by the Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, to Everight Diagnostics and Laboratory Services Ltd. in Abuja. The visit, announced in a press statement signed by Alaba Balogun, Head of Information and Public Relations, highlights the administration’s inclusive approach to healthcare reform through private sector engagement.
Dr. Salako praised Everight Diagnostics for its innovation, resilience, and role in curbing medical brain drain by providing high-standard facilities and opportunities for Nigerian professionals to thrive locally.
“I’m truly impressed with what you’ve built here. It’s a testament to vision, perseverance, and collaboration. This is the type of model the government supports—one where the private sector grows while contributing meaningfully to national health development,” Dr. Salako stated.
He encouraged Nigerian health professionals to believe in the potential within the country, noting that those who remain to build and strengthen local systems are helping secure the future of Nigeria’s healthcare.
“When you leave your country, no matter how hard you work, you’re rarely number one. But here, you can create value, lead, and build something impactful,” he emphasized.
Welcoming the Minister, the Chairman/CEO of Everight Diagnostics, Dr. Everest Okpara, expressed appreciation for the government’s recognition. He reiterated the company’s mission to combat capital flight by offering high-quality diagnostics and forging partnerships within Nigeria.
> “Your visit is a major morale boost. It affirms that our efforts are not going unnoticed. We’re committed to reducing the over $2 billion lost annually to medical tourism and the outsourcing of complex laboratory tests,” said the Managing Director.
The visit laid the groundwork for deeper collaboration between Everight Diagnostics and the Federal Ministry of Health, with both parties aligning on leveraging PPP frameworks to promote innovation, sustainability, and improved access to healthcare.
