The Federal Government has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr celebration, signalling the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government, according to a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Magdalene Ajani.
In his message, the minister congratulated Muslim faithful on the successful completion of Ramadan, urging them to uphold the values of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice imbibed during the fasting period.
He further called on all Nigerians to use the festive season to pray for the nation’s continued peace, unity, and prosperity.

Tunji-Ojo also encouraged citizens to celebrate responsibly and extend acts of kindness to the less privileged, stressing the importance of compassion and social solidarity during the period.
The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to promoting national unity and peaceful coexistence across the country.
