The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, hosted a farewell reception in honour of Ambassador Bello Kazaure Husseini, marking the end of his distinguished career in the Nigerian Foreign Service spanning over three decades.
The reception, held at the Ministry’s Atrium, drew senior government officials, serving and retired diplomats, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international organisations, as well as colleagues, friends and family members who gathered to celebrate the ambassador’s legacy of service.
Born on December 11, 1967, in Jigawa State, Ambassador Husseini joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1991 and rose through the ranks, serving Nigeria in several strategic capacities at headquarters and across key foreign missions. His postings included India, Kuwait, Tunisia, Japan, Cameroon, Australia and Saudi Arabia, where he handled diverse portfolios covering diplomacy, administration, trade facilitation, protocol, and bilateral and multilateral relations.
According to a press statement signed by the Ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the farewell reception featured tributes, a formal citation and goodwill messages highlighting Ambassador Husseini’s impact on the Ministry and the wider diplomatic community.
Speakers at the event described his career as one marked by professionalism, integrity, humility and unwavering commitment to the ideals of diplomacy and public service. Particular emphasis was placed on his leadership style, noted for mentorship, inclusiveness and respect for diversity, as well as his consistent prioritisation of national interest and humanity in the discharge of his duties.
They further commended his contributions to institutional development and capacity building within the Nigerian Foreign Service, urging younger officers to emulate his work ethic and values.

In his remarks, Ambassador Husseini expressed gratitude to the Federal Government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and his colleagues for the opportunity to serve, describing public service as both a privilege and a responsibility. He encouraged younger diplomats to uphold discipline, professionalism and patriotism in the course of their careers.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs commended Ambassador Bello Kazaure Husseini for his exemplary service to the nation and wished him continued success and fulfilment in his future endeavours.
