INEC Declares Soludo Winner of Anambra Governorship Election, APGA Retains Grip on State Politics
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), winner of the Anambra governorship election held on Saturday.
Soludo clinched victory with 422,664 votes, defeating Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 99,445 votes, and Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), who secured 37,753 votes.
Soludo’s triumph cements APGA’s enduring dominance in Anambra politics and signals the continuation of his administration’s “Soludo Solution” agenda.
The returning governor won across all 21 local government areas of the state, comfortably meeting the constitutional requirement of securing the majority of votes and at least 25 percent in two-thirds of the LGAs.
The Independent National Electoral Commission completed collation of results at its headquarters in Awka, paving the way for Soludo’s formal declaration.

Soludo, who was first elected in 2021, will complete his first term in March 2026. His re-election grants him a second and final term in office.
Although the election was largely peaceful, some observers raised concerns about vote-buying at certain polling units. Accredited observer group YIAGA Africa estimated voter turnout to be between 20.28 and 22.92 percent.
