The federal government has called on the general public to refrain from apathy towards Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and instead demonstrate compassion through their generosity and benevolence.
The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammed Alli Pate, CON, conveyed this message through the Director of Special Projects, Dr. Charles Nzelu, during the distribution of Medication and Essential Health Supplies to IDP Camps in Kuchigoro, Lifecamp, and Durumi IDP Camps in Area 1, Abuja.
According to the Minister, Dr. Charles Nzelu reiterated the government’s commitment to providing free Medication and other health supplies in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Administration.
Dr. Nzelu encouraged the authorities of the two IDP Camps to take advantage of the Federal Government’s generosity by utilizing the Medication and other valuable Health Supplies judiciously for the benefit of Internally Displaced Persons.
He assured continuous government efforts towards establishing a conducive environment for its citizens through Healthcare Services.
In their respective responses, Mr. Luka Yathuma of Kuchigoro IDP Camp commended the Federal Government for this initiative during this critical period. He emphasized the need for the government to intensify efforts to alleviate the severe suffering of IDPs.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Liyatu Ayuba, the Women Leader of Durumi IDP Camp, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government and the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare for providing assistance and pledged to handle the supplies appropriately.
The medications and essential health supplies, valued at millions of Naira, were distributed to each IDP Camp Coordinator accordingly.
