Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested three suspected vote buyers in different parts of Anambra State during the governorship election held on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
The suspects identified as Emeka Ilokasia, Nwachukwu Loretta, and Emuka Chuwudi were apprehended by EFCC officials deployed across the state to monitor the polls.
According to a statement by the Commission, Ilokasia was arrested at Ward 2, Njikoka Local Government Area; Loretta at Ward 2 (008), Awkuzu, Oyi Local Government Area; and Chuwudi at Umunachi Village, Dunukofia Local Government Area.
The EFCC said the arrests were part of ongoing efforts to curb electoral corruption and ensure that the exercise remained free, fair, and credible.

“All the suspects were apprehended while engaging in vote-buying activities and will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” the Commission stated.
Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding electoral integrity, the EFCC warned that it would not hesitate to bring anyone involved in electoral malpractice to justice.
