Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has strongly condemned the brutal killing of Northern travellers in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State. He called on security agencies to swiftly apprehend those responsible.
The victims, primarily Hausa hunters traveling to Kano for Sallah celebrations, were intercepted by a mob, their vehicle ransacked, and gruesomely murdered.
Describing the attack as “barbaric, inhumane, and devilish,” Senator Barau urged the Edo State Police Command and other security agencies to take decisive action to ensure justice.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Ismail Mudashir, the Deputy Senate President called for calm, assuring that the perpetrators would not escape justice. He also announced plans to sponsor a Senate motion to hold those responsible accountable.
“I have been inundated with calls from my constituents and concerned Nigerians over this horrific incident. I strongly condemn this senseless act of violence,” he said.

“I urge our security agencies to act swiftly in arresting these evildoers and ensuring they face the full weight of the law. Nigeria is a diverse nation, and we must embrace one another as brothers and sisters for our collective progress and development.”
Senator Barau also offered prayers for the victims’ souls and urged their families to remain calm, assuring them that justice would be served.
