LOKOJA, Sept. 11 – A journalist and 16 other passengers abducted along the Obajana–Lokoja Road have been rescued by troops of the Nigerian Army in Kogi State, officials said Thursday.
The victims, including 13 adults and four children, were travelling in a 17-seater bus from Osun to Abuja on Wednesday when gunmen struck, the Army said in a statement.
Troops from Patrol Base Apata, backed by a Quick Response Group, Hybrid Forces and local vigilantes, traced the kidnappers’ footprints to Wuro Village in Adavi Local Government Area. The suspects fled after a gun battle, abandoning all hostages.

The rescued victims received treatment at the 12 Brigade Medical Centre. The Army urged citizens to provide timely information to support operations against bandits.
