Akume’s Marriage to Former Ooni’s Wife Confirmed – Spokesperson Reveals

Says Union Existed for Over a Year

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has formally confirmed his marriage to Queen Zaynab Ngohemba, former wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.

The marriage, which reportedly took place in Mbakor, Benue State, was highlighted on Friday after a member of the Dajoh family, Abraham Double-D Dajoh, shared a celebratory post describing the union as a “beautiful” and “uncommon” blessing to the Akume family.

The family expressed gratitude to supporters of the SGF, urging them to sustain their goodwill as the couple embarks on a new chapter. They also warmly welcomed Queen Zaynab to Benue State, renowned as Nigeria’s “Food Basket of the Nation,” adding that her reception was marked by deep cultural warmth and hospitality.

Queen Zaynab, formerly known as Olori Wuraola, was married to the Ooni of Ife for 17 months before their union ended in 2017.

Clarifying public speculation surrounding the timing of the marriage, Akume’s spokesperson explained that the couple has been married for over a year, dismissing reports that suggested the wedding took place during the recent Christmas festivities.
