The Presidency has confirmed that Senator George Akume remains the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), dismissing reports of his replacement as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Saturday and signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the Presidency stated categorically that no changes have been made regarding the SGF position.
“There has been no change in the status of His Excellency, Senator George Akume, as Secretary to the Government of the Federation,” the statement clarified.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is currently on an official visit to Saint Lucia, has not made any new appointments, contrary to claims being circulated online.
The statement condemned the false report as the handiwork of “agents of mischief” intent on sowing confusion, urging Nigerians to disregard the fake news.
