Akpabio Commences Distribution Of 16,800 Bags Of Fertilizers In Akwa Ibom State

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has officially flagged-off the distribution of 16,800 bags of fertilizers to the residents of Akwa Ibom State.

This intervention was in fulfillment of his commitment to providing high-quality and impactful representation to the people of Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District.

During the event held in Ukana, Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Akpabio not only oversaw the distribution of the fertilizers but also personally handed out the second installment of N500,000 Naira cheques to 45 students in tertiary institutions through the Godswill Akpabio Scholarship Scheme.

Addressing the beneficiaries under the umbrella of the Godswill Akpabio Back To Farm Initiative (GABFI), Akpabio emphasized the importance of utilizing the fertilizers effectively to enhance agricultural yields in the upcoming harvest season.

In a statement conveyed by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, the Senate President expressed, “During my campaign for the Senatorial seat, I pledged to provide you with exceptional and impactful representation by spearheading transformative projects, fostering human capital development, and empowering the community. Today, we have convened here to uphold that solemn pledge I made while seeking your support.”

“The commencement of today’s distribution is not influenced by political party allegiance. It is tailored for farmers irrespective of their party affiliations. The objective is to bolster food security in Nigeria. Hunger transcends political boundaries. My aspiration is that in the forthcoming harvest season, we will have an abundance of food.”

Akpabio further stated, “The Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration led by President Bola Tinubu aims to promote self-sufficiency in food production. I extend my gratitude to Mr. President for endorsing the back to land initiative by authorizing the distribution of complimentary fertilizers to local farmers. I hereby launch this distribution on behalf of our president.”

Additionally, the Senate President oversaw the commencement of the distribution of another 16,800 bags of rice, directing that they be equitably distributed across all three Senatorial districts in the state.

Accompanying Akpabio to the inauguration, presentation, and distribution event were his wife, Mrs. Unoma, the Deputy Senate Whip, Onyekachi Nweboyin, as well as Senators Eteng Williams and Ita Enang.
