The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced the commencement of a phased load management exercise affecting parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and neighboring Nasarawa State due to ongoing Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) road construction works impacting the 132kV Gwagwalada–Kukwaba–Apo Line 2.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, October 29, 2025, the company explained that the exercise would be implemented in three phases to minimize disruptions while supporting infrastructure upgrades in the capital region.
According to the announcement, the first phase will run from Tuesday, October 28 to Sunday, November 2, 2025, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily. During this period, customers in Apo, Lokogoma, Lugbe, Pyakasa, Kabusa, Games Village, Guzape, Asokoro, Wuye, Utako, Jabi, Idu Industrial Area, Karu, Nyanya, Mararaba, Jikwoyi, Ado, Keffi, Nasarawa Toto, Nasarawa Eggon, Akwanga and surrounding communities may experience temporary power interruptions.
AEDC expressed regret over any inconvenience the exercise might cause, emphasizing that the measure was crucial to enhancing network reliability and facilitating ongoing FCDA development projects.
