Abuja, Nigeria – AEC Unity Network Limited, the officially recognized concessionaire for the Abuja-Lagos Super Highway and High-Speed Train projects, has strongly refuted claims by AEC-Geofocus Consortium (Geofocus) regarding its alleged involvement in the multi-billion-dollar infrastructure initiative.
In a statement released on Sunday, AEC Unity Network clarified that Geofocus has no role in the planning, financing, construction, or operation of the 470-kilometer superhighway and high-speed rail projects, which are integral to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda for national infrastructure development.
The company emphasized that it remains the sole concessionaire authorized by the Federal Government of Nigeria, with approvals secured from the Federal Ministry of Works, the Federal Ministry of Finance, and the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC).
AEC Unity Network called public attention to misleading statements made by one Engineer Mutiu Yinka Idris, who, on behalf of Geofocus, falsely asserted involvement in the projects. The claims, widely circulated in the media and on social platforms, were described as baseless and an attempt to mislead stakeholders.
Idris, who identified himself as the Director of Operations for AEC-Geofocus, reportedly described the entity as a consortium of engineers, planners, and investors that had attracted $16 billion from Middle Eastern investors, with additional interest from European financial institutions and the World Bank. He also claimed that the financial structure of the project was designed to minimize government expenditure, safeguard public funds, and prevent cost overruns through a risk-sharing mechanism.
He further assured stakeholders of a project flag-off before February 2025, reaffirming AEC-Geofocus’ commitment to delivering world-class infrastructure.
in a statement signed by Ayodeji Ademola, Esq. of Dipo Okpeseyi (SAN) & Co Chambers, AEC Unity Network categorically denied any affiliation with Geofocus, Idris, or their associates. The concessionaire reaffirmed its exclusive mandate to execute the project, urging the public and investors to disregard any conflicting claims.
“We emphatically state that AEC Unity Network Limited has no relationship whatsoever with AEC-Geofocus Consortium or Geofocus. Any claims made by Geofocus regarding involvement in the projects are spurious and false,” the statement read.

The company further alleged that Geofocus, including one of its sponsors, Mr. Fisayo Ishola of FANE, was engaging in deceptive practices to gain undue recognition for projects they are not affiliated with.
“AEC Unity Network Limited has no relationship whatsoever with Engineer Mutiu Yinka Idris, Prince Fisayo, or Geofocus,” the company reiterated.
AEC Unity Network cautioned the public, particularly local and foreign investors, to ignore any claims, advertisements, or media reports from Geofocus, describing them as unauthorized and misleading. The company stressed that its projects are still in the planning stages and that no concurrent developments on the Abuja-Lagos corridor have been approved.
“These fraudulent claims are entirely inconsistent with our proposed infrastructure plans and are intended to confuse and defraud unsuspecting stakeholders,” the statement added.
The Abuja-Lagos Super Highway and High-Speed Train projects are landmark initiatives under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, aimed at bolstering infrastructure and economic development.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and professionalism, AEC Unity Network urged stakeholders to seek information only through its official channels to avoid misinformation.
