Abike Dabiri-Erewa Urges Nigerian’s Women to Participate in Politics to Shape National Discourse

Lagos — The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has called on Nigerian women to actively participate in politics in order to shape national discourse and contribute meaningfully to the country’s development.
Dabiri-Erewa made the call while delivering a keynote address at an International Women’s Day seminar organised by Zenith Bank at the Civic Centre Lagos.
Speaking on the theme, “Take It, You Own It,” the NiDCOM boss urged women to support one another and work collectively toward nation-building.
She stressed that greater female participation in governance and decision-making would help strengthen democratic processes and ensure that women’s voices are adequately represented in national development.
Dabiri-Erewa also commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what she described as inclusive leadership through the appointment and election of women into key positions in government.
She further praised the initiatives of the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, noting that her programmes have continued to support the welfare and empowerment of women and children across the country.
In her remarks, the Group Managing Director of Zenith Bank, Adaora Umeoji, encouraged women to remain courageous, dedicated and visionary in their pursuits.

Umeoji noted that the bank’s annual International Women’s Day seminar is designed to inspire and empower women both within Nigeria and in the diaspora, while providing a platform for leadership development, professional growth and meaningful dialogue on issues affecting women.
According to her, the seminar also promotes women’s empowerment, social impact and inclusive economic participation, reinforcing the need for stronger female representation across all sectors of society.
