Senator Chinedu Munir Nwoko, popularly known as Ned Nwoko, has secured a significant legal victory in the United Kingdom, reinforcing his dedication to improving Nigeria’s global image.
Despite common negative stereotypes about Nigerians abroad, the senator emphasized that many Nigerians, like himself, embody credibility and integrity.
Born on December 21, 1960, Nwoko is a Nigerian lawyer, philanthropist, and politician currently serving as the senator for Delta North in the Nigerian Senate.
He shared his recent success story of reclaiming funds worth billions of naira after a legal battle in the UK during a media briefing in Abuja.
The discussion focused on essential legislative measures aimed at upholding the dignity and well-being of Nigerians.
Nwoko revealed that the funds would be released to his legal team within seven days of the court ruling.
He expressed his commitment to reinvesting the money into the development of malaria vaccine research, fulfilling a long-standing aspiration.
The senator explained that this investment aligns with his legislative priorities, which include pushing for a bill to establish an agency dedicated to vaccine research and development. “Now, as a serving senator, I am determined to advance this bill and turn it into an act, ensuring Nigeria has a dedicated body for managing and investing in vaccine research,” he stated.
He highlighted the urgent need for the Nigerian government to take proactive steps toward creating this agency. “I hope that we can eventually pass a law that mandates the creation of an agency solely focused on vaccine research,” Nwoko said.
Discussing Nigeria’s environmental challenges, Nwoko pointed out that mosquitoes thrive due to poor waste management and stagnant water.
He emphasized, “Our country’s waste management practices are lacking, and this contributes to widespread health issues. We must adopt higher standards—every part of Nigeria should be as clean and well-maintained as other developed countries. Everyone deserves to live in a healthy and comfortable environment.”
The senator urged stakeholders to support the proposed bill through advocacy and public engagement. “I am one of you, advocating from the position of a lawmaker. We need collective efforts to create this agency. Your support through writing and spreading awareness is essential.”
Nwoko also mentioned his ongoing collaborations with professors, researchers, and American technology experts as part of his preparation for this initiative. “It has to be done. I am confident that one day, we will achieve a breakthrough,” he concluded.
Also the Senator received an award of honors.
