The Northern Youth Forum (NYF) has decided to abstain from the scheduled August 1 demonstration against President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Instead, they have chosen to extend their support to the government’s endeavors in tackling the challenges faced by the region.
Upon meticulous deliberation, the group reached the conclusion that participating in the protest would only exacerbate the prevailing circumstances and impede any progress.
In a joint statement issued by Comrade Kabir Musa and Dr. Moses Itodo, the group emphasized their alignment with Minister of State Defence Bello Mattawalle and other prominent northern figures who are diligently collaborating with the government to address the region’s issues.
Expressing their reluctance to undermine the ongoing efforts or instigate unnecessary discord, the group affirms their commitment to backing and collaborating with the authorities to ensure the stability and advancement of the region.
The Northern Youth Forum (NYF) has resolved to retract their involvement in the planned demonstration against President Tinubu’s administration. This decision was reached after thorough consideration of the current circumstances in the northern region, which is still recuperating from insecurity, as conveyed in the statement.
“We are of the firm belief that staging a protest at this juncture would only further compound the challenges and impede the strides being made. Moreover, we have duly noted the indefatigable efforts of Minister of State Defence Bello Mattawalle and other regional leaders in conjunction with the government to address the region’s predicaments.
“Our decision not to engage in protests is driven by our unwavering dedication to the peace and advancement of the north. We acknowledge the region’s endured tribulations and advocate for solidarity and cooperation to forge a brighter future.”
Pledging their allegiance to President Tinubu and Bello Mattawalle, the youths have opted to align with the present administration due to their faith in its vision and dedication to the region’s progress.
“We shall persist in our support and advocacy for their endeavors in confronting our challenges. Minister Mattawalle, in particular, has exhibited exceptional leadership and commitment to the region’s security and development. In his capacity as Minister of State Defence, he has played a pivotal role in addressing the region’s security concerns. We stand in solidarity with him and pledge our unwavering loyalty to his leadership,” the statement further expressed.
“We also commend President Tinubu for his notable contributions thus far, notably in the realm of security. The commendable efforts of his administration in addressing the nation’s security dilemmas merit our support.
“We urge other northern youths and Nigerians to rally behind the government and collaborate towards peace and progress. Let us set aside our disparities and unite for the greater good. Our allegiance to Minister Mattawalle and support for President Tinubu’s administration are unequivocal. We shall persist in our collaboration to ensure the stability and development of the region.”
