The Federal Ministry of Environment and stakeholders has converged to develop policies to address clusters covering areas such as Climate Change, Pollution Control, and Institutional Governance across the country.
The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Environment, Mahmud Adam Kambari, said that the goal of the meeting is to develop actionable policies aligned with global standards to contribute to Nigeria’s development objectives.
While welcoming participants to the Technical Session of the 17th Meeting of the National Council on Environment in Abuja. The theme of the meeting focuses on “Environment Financing” to support sustainable development in Nigeria.
Kambari stressed that lack of adequate funding for environmental preservation has been a significant challenge for the sector, despite its crucial importance to human well-being. “The Technical Session will be divided into six thematic clusters for detailed discussions by expert groups.
“Participants are encouraged to actively engage and share their expertise to create a sustainable environmental agenda for the country.
“The outcome of the discussions is expected to provide a blueprint for effective resource generation and sectoral needs addressing. The emphasis is on collaboration, innovation, and the collective wisdom of participants to safeguard the environment for future generations.”
However, Distinct News reports that the Technical Session is focused on shaping Nigeria’s environmental policies and programs.
