A Lagos State Magistrate’s Court sitting at Igbosere has ordered the playback of audio recordings tendered as evidence in the cyberbullying trial of TikToker Yusuf Olamilekan, accused of posting nude photographs of a man on social media and threatening his life.
Magistrate Kemi Awoyinka gave the directive on Monday after portions of the recordings presented by the prosecution were found to require translation from Yoruba into English, the official language of the court.
The court adjourned the case until November 23, 2026, to enable the prosecution to arrange for an official interpreter to translate the Yoruba portions of the recordings.
At the resumed hearing on October 19, prosecuting counsel, Adewale Sodiq, informed the court that the defence had confirmed receipt of a flash drive containing the evidence at the previous sitting.
The prosecution also confirmed that the material received by the defence was the same recording played during the earlier hearing.
The nominal complainant, Fatai Idowu Adebanwo, testified virtually, while two witnesses were present in court.
During his examination, Adebanwo confirmed that he had previously told the court that he handed over an audio recording of the defendant’s social media broadcast to the police.
Following the court’s directive, the recording was played in open court. However, when the Yoruba portions were reached, Magistrate Awoyinka directed that they be translated into English to enable the court to properly consider the evidence.
The prosecutor subsequently requested an adjournment to arrange for an official interpreter.
Before adjourning the matter, the magistrate suggested that the recordings be played in full to enable the defendant to identify the portions he intends to rely on during the trial.
Earlier in his testimony, Adebanwo told the court that he reported the alleged conduct to the police at Alagbon and Zone 2, where he submitted a petition and presented evidence stored on his phone.
He said the police instructed him to transfer screen recordings to a flash drive and print photographs allegedly displayed during the defendant’s social media broadcast.
According to the witness, he transferred the materials to a Microsoft Surface laptop before printing the photographs with a Canon printer.
He also confirmed that his iPhone 14 Pro Max, laptop and printer were in good working condition when he used them to record, transfer and print the materials.
The prosecution also sought to establish the witness’s identification of his statement and petition to the police, alongside the electronic materials he said he submitted during the investigation.
At an earlier sitting, Adebanwo had narrated how the defendant allegedly cyberbullied him on different occasions, adding that the alleged actions affected his mother’s health.
The court had previously adjourned the matter to allow the parties to explore an out-of-court settlement.
However, the prosecution subsequently informed the court that the complainant alleged that the defendant continued to cyberbully him on social media after being granted bail.
Olamilekan, 32, popularly known on TikTok as “BINTINLAYEAZEEZ 1991”, was arraigned on June 1, 2026, on a two-count charge bordering on the unlawful display of nude photographs and threat to life.
The prosecution alleged that the offences were committed in July 2025 in Isolo, Lagos, contrary to Sections 168(1)(d) and 56(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The case was adjourned until November 23, 2026, for continuation of trial.
