A faith-based civil liberties organisation, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has called on the legal team of former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai, to ensure that all documents presented in court meet integrity standards, amid concerns over a disputed medical report used in his bail application.
In a statement issued on July 4, 2026, and signed by Malam Hassan Sani Indabawa, Chairman of MURIC Kano State Chapter and Coordinator for Northern States and Abuja, the group expressed worry over the growing complications surrounding El-Rufai’s bail request. It specifically questioned the authenticity of a medical report allegedly obtained from the National Hospital, Abuja, which reportedly formed the basis of his latest bail application.
Malam Hassan Sani Indabawa noted that despite MURIC’s consistent advocacy for El-Rufai’s release and protection of his fundamental rights, the organisation would not compromise on truth and fairness. He referenced the Kaduna High Court’s dismissal of the third bail application, citing the alleged disowning of the medical report by the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Professor Muhammad Raji Mahmud, who reportedly stated that the document was issued without official authorisation.
The group described any attempt to use forged or questionable documents in court as “disturbing and worrisome,” stressing that responsibility ultimately rests with the defendant’s legal team. It urged El-Rufai’s lawyers and supporters to approach ongoing and upcoming legal proceedings with facts, professionalism, and respect for judicial processes.

MURIC also reiterated its earlier stance demanding that authorities respect El-Rufai’s rights, including access to family and medical care, noting that the court had already directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to allow him access to personal physicians.
As El-Rufai prepares to face additional charges at the Federal High Court in Kaduna on July 6, 2026, the organisation called on the judiciary to uphold the sanctity of justice by handling the case impartially and without bias, in line with the rule of law.
