Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has intervened in the alleged abuse of a 10-year-old boy in Awada, Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, condemning the act and demanding justice for the victim.
In a statement issued on Monday, Soludo described the incident as cruel, disturbing and unacceptable, expressing deep concern over reports and images showing the extent of injuries inflicted on the child by his guardians.
“I’m deeply saddened and disturbed by the horrific abuse allegedly suffered by the 10-year-old boy in the hands of his guardians in Awada, Obosi,” she said. “No child, whatever the offence, deserves to endure such cruelty, and as a mother, I find the images and reports deeply troubling.”
She disclosed that she had contacted the Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, urging that the child be moved from his current hospital to a better-equipped medical facility to receive specialised treatment and adequate care.
According to her, the intervention is aimed at ensuring the boy receives optimal medical attention alongside the necessary support required for his full recovery.
Soludo further pledged to take full responsibility for the child’s rehabilitation, assuring that efforts would be made to restore his physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing.
“I have pledged to take full responsibility for his rehabilitation and ensure that he is given every opportunity to heal physically, emotionally and psychologically,” she stated.
The governor’s wife also called for a thorough investigation into the incident and demanded that all those connected to the abuse be brought to justice, including the arrest of the suspect’s husband for questioning.
“Those responsible must face the full weight of the law. Anambra State maintains zero tolerance for any form of abuse against children and women, and I will personally follow up on this case to ensure justice is served,” she added.
She urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report cases of abuse, stressing the collective responsibility to protect vulnerable children.

“We must all remain vigilant and speak up whenever we witness abuse because every child deserves protection, dignity and love. I thank everyone who spoke up and brought this heinous act to light,” she said.
The case gained public attention after a viral video surfaced on social media showing the minor with severe scald injuries across his body, allegedly inflicted by his guardians.
