The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the safe rescue of a woman, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, following their abduction in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The victims were freed during a coordinated operation by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department’s Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Mrs. Adegoke and her children were kidnapped on June 3, 2026, at approximately 7:30 a.m. while she was driving them to school in Ibadan.
According to the police, the successful rescue followed sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance, and tactical operations that enabled investigators to track the abductors’ movements and location.
The operation led to a confrontation between the kidnappers and FID-IRT operatives, during which two suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded. Two rifles were also recovered at the scene.
The victims were rescued unharmed and are currently in safe custody, where they are receiving medical attention and necessary support.
The Inspector-General of Police commended the operatives for their courage, professionalism, and effectiveness, noting that their resilience was instrumental in securing the safe release of the hostages.
Meanwhile, security operatives have intensified efforts to apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate who fled the scene. Preliminary intelligence suggests that some of the suspects escaped with gunshot injuries.
The police said ongoing operations are focused on tracking and arresting all those involved to ensure they are brought to justice.

The Force also expressed appreciation to members of the public for their cooperation and support during the operation, reaffirming its commitment to combating violent crime and safeguarding lives and property across the country.
