Abuja, Nigeria — Chairman of the Senate Committee on Industries and Senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, has underscored the power of grassroots engagement as the foundation of political success, declaring that sustained connection with the people remains the most effective strategy for leadership and development.
In an expansive reflection on his political journey and service record, Senator Fadahunsi painted a vivid picture of a leadership style deeply rooted in accessibility, inclusiveness, and tangible impact. According to him, politics is not defined by titles or influence, but by constant interaction with constituents and responsiveness to their needs.
The senator made the assertion during an interactive session with National Assembly correspondents on Tuesday in Abuja at the National Assembly Complex, noting that, “Politics is fundamentally about the people. If you are disconnected from the grassroots, you will ultimately fail,” while stressing that no political office guarantees automatic support without continuous community engagement.
The senator highlighted years of deliberate efforts to maintain strong ties with community leaders, traditional institutions, religious groups, youth organisations, and women associations across Osun East. These relationships, he noted, have translated into trust and sustained political support.
Fadahunsi pointed to a wide range of development interventions facilitated through his office, including the construction and rehabilitation of roads, provision of transformers to boost electricity supply, installation of solar-powered infrastructure, and support for educational programmes.
Across the district, he said, communities can identify projects that have directly improved their living conditions, reinforcing his belief that governance must be measured by visible impact rather than promises.
A key highlight of his intervention, according to the senator, is employment generation. He revealed that over 400 individuals have secured opportunities in the power sector alone through his facilitation, while many others have been placed in federal agencies such as the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), the Bank of Industry (BOI), and other government institutions.
Describing his approach as inclusive, Fadahunsi emphasized that development efforts under his leadership cut across religious and social lines. “We work with both Christian and Muslim communities because development knows no boundaries,” he said, noting that unity and cooperation remain central to sustainable progress.
In a candid moment, the senator also spoke about the extent of his personal involvement in facilitating opportunities beyond his immediate constituency, recounting instances where individuals from different parts of the country benefited from his network and interventions.
Despite these efforts, he maintained that his focus remains firmly on the Southwest, particularly Osun East, where he continues to prioritize youth empowerment and community development.
On the political climate in Osun State, Fadahunsi expressed confidence in the electorate, describing them as politically conscious and capable of distinguishing between rhetoric and real performance.
“The people can see what has been done. They understand the difference between promises and results,” he said, adding that future elections would ultimately be decided by credibility, service delivery, and proven impact.

Looking ahead, the senator reaffirmed his commitment to deepening engagement with constituents, expanding development projects, and creating more opportunities for young people, while ensuring that Osun East secures its fair share of federal presence.
For Fadahunsi, the message is clear: politics is, above all, about service. And in his words, “When you serve the people sincerely and remain accessible, they will always stand by you.”
