Abuja — The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter, has called for increased protection, investment, and equal opportunities for every Nigerian child as the country joins the global community to celebrate the 2026 Children’s Day.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Chairperson of NAWOJ FCT, Comrade Bassey Ita-Ikpang, emphasized the need to prioritise the welfare and future of children, noting that every child deserves access to love, protection, quality education, and healthcare, regardless of their background or gender.
The association urged parents, government at all levels, and relevant stakeholders to intensify efforts toward safeguarding children from abuse, exploitation, and all forms of violence, while creating an enabling environment for them to thrive.
“Children represent the pride and future of our nation. It is our collective responsibility to ensure they are given the right foundation to achieve their dreams,” the statement said.

NAWOJ FCT also encouraged children across the country to remain hopeful, focused, and determined despite prevailing challenges.
The association reaffirmed its commitment to advocating policies and initiatives that promote child rights and development.
