Last night, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has responded to a series of incidents across Lagos, including fallen containers, road traffic accidents, and fire outbreaks, causing widespread disruption but no reported fatalities.
In one of the major incidents, a 40-foot container fell off a Mack truck onto a commercial van at Apongbon Bridge inward Eko Bridge, leading to severe traffic gridlock. Emergency responders successfully recovered the container, while no lives were lost.
According to a statement signed by Afolabi Olawale, Head of Public Affairs at LASEMA, another accident occurred at Barracks inward Stadium, where a truck lost control and toppled, obstructing part of the road.
The driver escaped unhurt, and officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) swiftly towed the vehicle away.
In a separate crash along 7Up Road, in front of the Governor’s Office, three vehicles—a GAC Jeep, a police Hilux, and a luxury bus—were involved in a collision. One person sustained injuries and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
LASEMA also responded to multiple fire outbreaks across the state. At Ajao Estate, a storey building was engulfed by fire reportedly caused by a power surge. Although the building was destroyed, no casualties were recorded as emergency responders contained the blaze and prevented further spread.
Another fire incident occurred at CMS Bridge, near Landmark Marina Station, where a truck carrying 10,000 litres of diesel caught fire due to a mechanical fault. Responders successfully evacuated the truck, with no casualties reported.

The Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, urged residents to exercise caution and promptly report emergencies via dedicated lines 112 or 767.
The series of incidents highlights ongoing safety concerns on Lagos roads and the critical role of emergency response agencies in mitigating potential disasters.
