Lagos — The Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL) has strongly condemned a fuel siphoning incident involving two of its bus captains, describing the act as a breach of trust and operational standards.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Idowu Oguntona, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Lagos and signed by the company’s Public Affairs Officer, Olawale Afolabi.
Oguntona said the incident, which occurred on March 10, was brought to the company’s attention through a video recorded by a concerned citizen.
According to him, the suspects were swiftly identified, apprehended, and handed over to security personnel for investigation.
He added that the individuals were subsequently arraigned before a Mobile Court on March 12 and remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Facility, pending further hearing scheduled for April 22.
The LBSL boss reaffirmed the company’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and strict enforcement of operational standards.
“We strongly condemn any act that compromises the trust reposed in our workforce and the resources entrusted to us by the government and people of Lagos State,” he said.
Oguntona commended the vigilance of the concerned citizen, noting that public cooperation remains vital in safeguarding the integrity and efficiency of the transport system.

He reiterated the company’s zero-tolerance stance on misconduct, warning that any staff found culpable of theft, fraud, or related offences would face disciplinary action and possible prosecution.
“The decisive action in this matter serves as a strong deterrent and reinforces the organisation’s unwavering commitment to ethical conduct,” he added.
