The Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration (NASFA) says it has produced more than 4,500 graduates at the National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) levels since 2007.
The Chief of Training, Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Valentine Okoro, made the disclosure on Tuesday in Lagos at the 24th Nigerian Army Leadership Development Seminar.
The seminar had the theme: “Adaptive Leadership in a Volatile Security Environment: Leading Effectively in the Era of Uncertainty and Rapid Change.”
Okoro, represented by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Maj.-Gen. Adebayo Babalola, said training remained critical to preparing troops for the demands of modern warfare.
He said structured and progressive training enabled leaders to acquire competence, confidence and adaptability required in complex operational environments.
According to him, the Nigerian Army is committed to developing competent leaders capable of effectively discharging their responsibilities in an increasingly complex security landscape.
“The contemporary security environment presents evolving trends that demand leaders who are intellectually equipped, professionally trained and capable of making sound decisions under pressure,” he said.
Okoro noted that the seminar aligned with the vision of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, to transform the Nigerian Army into a professional, adaptable and combat-ready force.
He said the army continued to invest in leadership development and professional military education because effective leadership remained a decisive factor in operational success.
Okoro added that Nigeria’s security environment, characterised by insurgency, terrorism, militancy and other asymmetric threats, required leaders who were both tactically proficient and strategically minded.
He said the seminar was designed to expose participants to modern leadership concepts, management practices and strategic thinking necessary for effective command and decision-making.
Okoro urged participants to use the seminar as an opportunity for intellectual engagement and knowledge sharing to strengthen their leadership capacity.
“By investing in training, the Nigerian Army is reinforcing its capacity to remain a professional and combat-ready force capable of addressing national security challenges,” he said.
Also speaking, the Registrar of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), Mrs Taiwo Olusesi, said the seminar marked another milestone in the partnership between the institute and the Nigerian Army.

Olusesi commended the Commandant of NASFA, Brig.-Gen. John Bulus, for sustaining the annual leadership development seminar.
She said the programme had continued to promote capacity building and management professionalism among Nigerian Army officers.
According to her, the seminar exposes participants to global management practices and enhances their ability to handle professional and personal challenges effectively.
