In a statement signed by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols at NiDCOM, Dabiri-Erewa described their achievements on one of the world’s most prestigious cultural stages as a powerful reflection of the creativity, excellence, and global impact of Nigerians and people of Nigerian heritage across the diaspora.

Shaboozey, born Collins Obinna Chibueze; Tyler, the Creator, born Tyler Gregory Okonma; and Cynthia Erivo, born Cynthia Chinasaokwu Onyedinmanazu Amarachukwu Owezuke Echimino Erivo, were commended for elevating Nigeria’s cultural identity through their artistry and global influence.

Dabiri-Erewa noted that their Grammy wins are not only personal milestones but also moments of collective pride for Nigeria. She emphasized that their names, family histories, and ancestral roots remain unmistakably Nigerian, adding that through their work, they continue to showcase Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage to the world.

While celebrating the diaspora stars, the NiDCOM boss also acknowledged the immense contributions and global recognition of Nigerian-based artistes such as Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Wizkid, and others who have continued to place Nigeria firmly on the global music map.

She called on the media, cultural institutions, and Nigerians at home and abroad to adopt a broader and more inclusive understanding of national pride—one that celebrates Nigerian excellence wherever it thrives.
