The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in collaboration with the Kwara State Emergency Management Agency (KWASEMA), has conducted a joint on-the-spot assessment of the recent bandits’ attack on Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, to determine the extent of damage and the immediate humanitarian needs of affected residents.
The assessment followed earlier emergency intervention by NEMA, which delivered relief materials to support the Kwara State Government’s efforts at alleviating the suffering of victims. The items were received on behalf of the state government by the Executive Secretary of KWASEMA, Mr. Moshood Mogaji.
According to a press statement signed by Manzo Ezekiel of the Press Unit, NEMA Headquarters, Abuja, dated February 9, 2026, the joint team was deployed to gather first-hand information that would guide further response and recovery efforts in the affected communities.
The NEMA team from the Minna Operations Office was led by the Head of Operations, Mr. Hussaini Isah, while the KWASEMA delegation was headed by its Executive Secretary, Mr. Mogaji.
During the visit, the team paid a courtesy call at the Kaiama Local Government Secretariat, where they were received by the Executive Secretary of the council, Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna. They also visited the Kaiama Emirate Council to commiserate with the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Muazu Omar, through the Wazirin Kaiama, Alhaji Adamu Gene, and to obtain preliminary briefings on the incident and its impact.

The joint team further engaged with community leaders, including the traditional head of Woro Community, Alhaji Umar Bio Salihu, who highlighted the effects of the attack on residents and outlined the urgent needs of affected households.
The assessment exercise was conducted with the cooperation of community leaders, relevant government officials, and security agencies, as part of coordinated efforts to ensure timely humanitarian assistance and recovery for victims of the attack.
