The National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) has confirmed Mr Emmanuel Odo as the substantive Clerk to the Senate and appointed Mr Ibrahim Sidi as Acting Clerk of the House of Representatives, in a move aimed at strengthening administrative continuity within the National Assembly.
The decisions were taken at the Commission’s 19th meeting held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, and later announced in Abuja through a statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Mr Emmanuel Anyigor, on behalf of the Executive Chairman of NASC, Dr Saviour Enyiekere.
Odo’s confirmation follows his appointment as Acting Clerk to the Senate in September 2025. With the new approval, his position has now been made substantive, consolidating his leadership of the Senate’s bureaucracy and ensuring stability in the administration of legislative processes.
In a related development, NASC appointed Ibrahim Sidi as Acting Clerk of the House of Representatives with effect from February 9, 2026. Sidi, who currently serves as Director of Administration at the National Assembly, will succeed Dr Yahaya Danzariya, who is due to retire from service on February 8, 2026.
Beyond the top appointments, the Commission also approved several redeployments and acting appointments across key directorates. Fortune Ihua-Maduenyi was named Acting Secretary of the Directorate of Protocol and Inter-Parliamentary Relations, while Asien Fatima Nana was appointed Acting Secretary of the Zonal Liaison Offices.

Other appointments include Engr. Bashir Layya as Acting Secretary of the Directorate of Estate and Works, effective February 3, 2026, as well as the appointment of Siyaka Wahab Sadiq as Acting Deputy Clerk (Legislative) and Dauda Bulama Bukar as Acting Deputy Clerk (Administration) in the House of Representatives.
The National Assembly Service Commission, which is constitutionally mandated to oversee the appointment, promotion and discipline of National Assembly staff, said the decisions were part of efforts to ensure administrative stability and effective legislative support within Nigeria’s federal legislature.
