Utsev Sets Direction for 2026, Vows Better Water Supply, Sanitation Services for Nigerians

The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, has assured Nigerians that 2026 will mark a year of intensified reforms, strengthened service delivery, and renewed progress in the nation’s water and sanitation sector.

In a New Year message released on Thursday and signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Mrs. Funmi Imuetinyan, the Minister extended warm greetings to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, the people of Benue State, Nigerians nationwide, and stakeholders in the sector.

Prof. Utsev said the New Year presents another opportunity to consolidate achievements and accelerate sustainable water management, improved sanitation, and enhanced hygiene practices across the country. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to fully implementing the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration to expand access to safe water, promote inclusive sanitation services, and build greater resilience against climate change.

The Minister applauded development partners, professionals, and communities for their support and collaboration, urging deeper cooperation, innovation, and uncompromising standards of integrity and accountability to further improve service delivery and quality of life.

He assured Nigerians that the Ministry would continue to champion people-focused policies geared toward sustainable water supply, sanitation improvement, and environmental protection.

Prof. Utsev wished all Nigerians a peaceful, prosperous, and fulfilling 2026.
