Lagos — Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to Lagos State, assuring them of full government backing as they commence their national service.
Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, gave the assurance on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch C corps members at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Iyana-Ipaja.
He urged the new corps members to approach their national service with dedication and purpose, reminding them that the one-year programme offers a unique opportunity to demonstrate patriotism and make a meaningful impact.
“As you have been inducted into the National Service today, this journey may seem long, but it is a short period to show patriotism to the nation and leave a positive impact,” he said.
The governor commended the contributions of past corps members who served in Lagos, encouraging the new batch to draw inspiration from their achievements and leverage the state’s vast opportunities.
“Lagos is a land of endless opportunities; take advantage of these opportunities through this orientation course. On our part, the Lagos State Government will continue to create an enabling environment for you to discharge your duties,” he added, stressing that the security of lives and property remains a top priority of his administration.
Sanwo-Olu advised the corps members to maximise the opportunities within the orientation programme to acquire new skills, build networks and make lasting contributions to the state.
Earlier, the NYSC Lagos State Coordinator, Mrs. Christina Salmwang, disclosed that the state received 7,138 corps members, including those dislodged to neighbouring states, for a three-week orientation designed to strengthen discipline, teamwork and resilience.
She highlighted the NYSC’s evolution into a globally recognised platform for practical learning, equipping young Nigerians with the exposure and competence needed to tackle real-life challenges.

“The National Service creates opportunities to develop as influencers, high achievers and patriots dedicated to building a united Nigeria,” Salmwang said.
She added that the orientation course aims to instil leadership qualities such as diligence, integrity, perseverance and peaceful coexistence, urging corps members to fully embrace the training modules.
The oath of allegiance was administered by Justice Rosul Adewale, who represented the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba.
