ABUJA, Nigeria – The Honourable Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Professor Joseph Terlumun Utsev, has expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visit to Benue State in the wake of continued attacks and killings by suspected herdsmen militia.
Describing the visit as timely and compassionate, Professor Utsev said it reflects the President’s commitment to the protection and welfare of Nigerian citizens and showcases the character of a true servant-leader.
This was communicated in a press statement through Terhemen Oraduen, the minister’s personal assistant on media and publicity on Friday
According to the Minister, the visit gave President Tinubu a firsthand opportunity to interact with the people of Benue, assess the scale of the insecurity plaguing the state, and begin charting a course for sustainable peace.
Utsev praised the President for ordering security chiefs to immediately pursue and bring to justice those responsible for the recent massacre in Yelewata community, Guma Local Government Area.
He also welcomed the President’s directive to establish a high-level peace committee comprising former governors, traditional rulers, and community elders. The committee is expected to meet with the President in Abuja to develop a roadmap for lasting peace in the state.

The Minister further acknowledged the presence and support of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, during visits to victims receiving treatment in hospitals, where they offered words of encouragement and solidarity.
Professor Utsev prayed for divine guidance and strength for President Tinubu as he continues to lead the country toward a future of peace, unity, and prosperity.
