As part of its commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare, the Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Health & Social Welfare, has appointed new Medical Directors for two hospitals.
The newly appointed officials are:
Dr. Haruna Abubakar Shehu – Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Kafanchan, Kaduna State.
Dr. Ali Mohammed Ramat – Medical Director, National Orthopaedic Hospital, Azare, Hawul, Borno State.
During the brief ceremony, the Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, emphasized the President’s expectation of unwavering dedication from the new Medical Directors.
According to a press statement signed on Sunday by Alaba Balogun, Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations, Dr. Salako highlighted the significance of the appointments, particularly the one in Kafanchan.
“These are new hospitals, so naturally, you will face some teething challenges. Kafanchan is particularly special to Mr. President due to his keen interest in that part of Kaduna State. He has also established a Federal University in that senatorial district, reflecting his commitment to its development.”

Dr. Salako urged the newly appointed Medical Directors to approach their roles with dedication and ensure they align with the President’s healthcare agenda.
“Engage closely with all stakeholders in the community—they are the true owners of these facilities. Maintain a strong relationship with the Ministry through the Hospital Services Department. As leaders of new institutions, your roles will be demanding, but I trust in your ability to rise to the challenge. My prayer is that you will succeed in every aspect,” he advised.
In his vote of thanks, Dr. Haruna Abubakar Shehu, the newly appointed Medical Director of FMC Kafanchan, expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) for the trust placed in them. He pledged their commitment to excellence in implementing the administration’s healthcare vision.
