The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed a dynamite explosion in a residential area of Sabon Pegi, Mashegu Local Government Area, Niger State.
The explosion occurred in the early hours of Sunday, January 26, 2025, at approximately 7:30 a.m. Reports indicate that the dynamite was stored in a rented apartment by a local artisan miner for his workers. The blast caused significant damage, affecting several residents and destroying property in the vicinity.
In response, NEMA’s Minna Operation Office and the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) have mobilized resources to assess the situation and provide necessary assistance to those affected.
