In a scathing statement to the press, Richard Aro, convener of the Zero Tolerance for Corruption Vanguard, has accused Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) of engaging in fraudulent practices, urging Nigerians to boycott the financial institution.
Aro condemned the bank’s alleged misconduct, highlighting its severe impact on rural communities, where elderly Nigerians rely on remittances for survival. He claimed that many intended recipients never receive their funds, while others fail to get transaction notifications, exacerbating customer frustration.
Criticizing GTBank’s customer service, Aro described it as rude, unhelpful, and disorganized, leaving many Nigerians unable to resolve critical banking issues. He warned that the bank’s alleged malpractices pose a serious threat to the economy and national security and called on the federal government to intervene.
Comrade Emmanuel Oteku, a GTBank customer, recounted his own ordeal, claiming that a failed transfer left him stranded, with multiple attempts to resolve the issue proving futile.
The advocacy group demanded an urgent federal investigation into GTBank’s activities, calling for the resignation and prosecution of the bank’s CEO, Segun Agbaje.
